I encourage you to take a tour through my website for this political campaign and learn more about who I am and what I stand for, updates from my campaign, how to vote information and how you can assist me in being elected into the Sorell Council.
I am your candidate who cares about the future of our community so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
About Me
Who I Am?
My name is Shannon Campbell, and I am proud to be standing as a candidate for Deputy Mayor and Councillor in the 2022 Tasmanian Local Government elections for Sorell Council.
A bit about myself. I am an entrepreneur currently managing three companies: Eco Spring Clean, Campbell Conveyancing and Campbell Attraction Marketing. I am currently a licensed conveyancer with over 16 years experience in the industry. I’m the President of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers Tasmanian Division and Secretary of the Sorell Business Association.
I am a wife and a mother of two, during my spare time I enjoy surfing, paddle boarding, horse riding, travelling, snorkelling/diving, and spending time with friends and family. I understand the struggles of life and day-to-day living, therefore I am standing for council to represent your issues as ratepayers and residents of the area.
During my campaign and if elected to council, I am going to learn more on what the ratepayers and residents want from their council and councillors and how I can best represent them. I’d be more than happy to have a conversation with you about anything relating to local issues or concerns. If elected, I’m going to be a councillor and deputy mayor that will stand up for people and hear their views and not ignore them.
Let me help you be part of the solution! Please give me your number #1 vote.
Yours sincerely,
Shannon Campbell

Vision for the Sorell Municipality
What I Stand For
I strongly believe that all young people who live in our Sorell municipality deserve to have access to resources and programs that help them in building a successful future. I want the young people of our area to feel safe, accepted and connected to our community.
I have recently been working with the current council members, local MPs, local business owners and the local police to come up with a solution to make sure that young people in our area have somewhere to go that they feel safe, looking into what we can do better as a community to host programs and activities for young people to do outside of school and to ensure that there is a police presence to combat youth crime.
Young people are the future of our local area and our nation, they deserve to be listened to attentively and I believe that they need to have a say into decisions that impact them. If elected to council I will make sure we represent the views of our young people.
Our council represents the local community to ensure that they have access to all the things they need as a resident/ratepayer of the council area. Established in 1862, the Sorell municipality is home to approximately 16,000 people and covers some 583 square kilometres and is characterised by rolling countryside, low forested hills and long coastlines filled with stunning beaches.
Sorell is one of Tasmania’s oldest towns and the streets are lined with historic treasures, including three National Heritage listed churches and many amazing parks and recreational facilities, local businesses, the oldest continuously operating school in Australia, medical services, and accommodation sites.
I believe in making sure our community has their say in decisions that impact them whether it is roads and construction, waste collection, community facilities, recreation areas and economic development or all the other areas that local governments are responsible for.
For more information about the Sorell area, please visit the Sorell Council website – www.sorell.tas.gov.au.
There is a growing number of people in our area who are suffering in silence from mental health conditions and can’t access services and support for their benefit due to a lack of services available in our area and the cost that it is to see a mental health practitioner. All members of our community no matter who they are, deserve to have access to mental health support and be able to do things that make them feel good within themselves whether it is a sport or hobby.
We need to create a community where there is better access to the things that make people feel better.
If your struggling in life don’t be afraid to speak up and ask for help. A list of mental health service providers can be found here – https://www.health.tas.gov.au/health-topics/mental-health.
Being a local business owner I strongly believe in supporting our own local businesses and making sure that they feel connected to the municipality.
Local businesses are the backbone of our community, and they provide our residents with access to many services and products and therefore they deserve to have input into council decisions that impact their business.
